First thoughts are to make the brand typographical, plain type of maybe the names of people that died, or all the different emergency services that helped.

Research
Looking at the footage from the moments everything took place, New Yorkers are patriotic and have are all for the 'America' team. They want to show that they can move on in a positive way, was a tragedy and now they can remember it with pride.
